CHÂTEAU GISCOURS GRAND CRU CLASSE 1855 2007
HK$510.00 inc. tax
Type: Red wine
Vintage: 2007
Grapes: 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot
Origin: Margaux, France
Description: Château Giscours has constantly reinvented itself to survive the centuries.
Pierre de Lhomme, Marc Promis, Jean-Pierre Pescatore, Edouard Cruse, Nicolas Tari
and now the Albada Jelgersma family – all ambitious and visionary estate owners
who were passionate about pulling together the estate’s land and giving this vineyard,
named a Third Grand Cru Classé in 1855, a reputation for excellence.
The vineyard which covers a total area of 95 hectares in Margaux production, is established on glacial origin gravels and sand. The afing of the wine is made in French oak barrels (fine grain and medium heat) during 12 to 15 months depending on the vintage.
Tasting notes: The 2007 Giscours has a pleasant mulberry, strawberry and orange blossom scented bouquet, with the merlot component quite expressive and lending a right bank like veneer. The Palate is medium bodied with crisp tannin, plenty of truffle infused black fruit with a vein of pencil lead on the finish.
Pairing: The ideal dish would be a simply roast leg of lamb and mature cheeses.
